About
I am a creative ideas person; always challenging the traditional way we do things. One of my friends calls me a “serial entrepreneur”, while my other friend says you’re a “disrupter”. Meanwhile my husband just calls me “restless” and “never satisfied”. You only get one shot at life so you better love the life you’re living! I am determined to live my life powerfully and with purpose. I wholeheartedly believe in setting people up for success and that we all deserve to be the best version of ourselves.
I have created and sold two businesses that arose organically out of a “perceived need” for my two litlte princesses here in Whangarei. My first business was www.supercute.co.nz selling imaginative fun, yet practical baby gifts (think plush Octopus wearing socks for bubs); and the second www.princessandthepirate.co.nz helping to create stylish parties for little people (think Pinterest).
We recently moved to our dream house on 2.5 acres of beautiful park-like grounds (more room for the girls to explore and have adventures), that came with a luxury cattery. It was a no brainer continuing with the www.DeloraineCattery.com, ensuring I get my daily indulgence of animal fur love. We have great processes and hired four staff (ensuring it can run without me) who LOVE our fur babies too. We love to give back to our community hosting the 2015 Cause of Paws family and pet day out raising over $10,000 for the Whangarei SPCA; and in November 2015 opening our home and garden to help raise over $26,000 for the Whangarei Hospice.
We love to travel and have taken our two little daughters with us on our adventures including 6 months traveling Europe with our eldest then six month old daughter, celebrating her first birthday in Paris.
My latest venture is called “Nearby”, seeking to disrupt the way we choose to hire and the way we choose to work. I feel nauseous as I realise the global impact this could have and if little old me is “good enough” to make it happen. Thankfully, I have the support of some amazing people, including Jules Smith (my business mentor) owner of WashBar, Dan Khan (Lean Startup) and Joseph Stuart from Northland Inc.
